Gate valve
Gate valve is one of most extensive use valves.
Gate valve, it's closing part (flashboard) moves along vertical direction of passage axis, the uses is stopping the medium in pipeline, that is completely start and close. Generally speaking, gate valve can't be used for adjusting the flow, it is suitable for low temperature and pressure as well as high temperature and pressure, the different material gate valve can be used in different medium, but usually it can't be used in the pipeline of transporting slurry etc. medium.
Gate valve has following advantages:
1. low liquid resistance
2. low force moment required for start and close
3. it can be used in rig net pipeline which the medium flows in two directions, that is say no direction limitation of medium flow.
4. lower errosion to seal surface than stop valve when it is working.
5. simple structure, good manufacturing process

Gate valve has different kinds of structure forms, the main distinguish is different structure form of seal parts. The popular types of gate valve are slab gate valve and wedging gate valve, and it can be divided as risefall rod gate valve and revolving rod gate valve according to the valve rod's structure.
The principle of chosing wedge gate valve:
1. The requirement of liquid characteristic: low flow resistance, good flow characteristics, strict requirement for seal.
2. The medium of high temperature, high pressure. Such as high pressure steam, high temperature and high pressure oil products.
3. Low temperature medium. Such as liquid nitrogen, liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen etc. medium.
4. Low pressure and large caliber, such as water project, sewage treatment project.
5. Position of installation: chose revolving rod gate valve when the installation height is limited, chose risefall rod gate valve when the installation height is unlimited.
6. Wedge gate valve is only for start and close, it can't be used for adjusting or throttling.
7. Wedge gate valve is suitable in the condition of low frequency of start and close.
