Sancti Spiritus, a province of architecture and nature’s beautyFounded in 1514 as one of the seven original towns established by the Spanish conquistadors, it was moved in 1522 and became the site that year for Cuba’s first church. The city is the capital of the province of the same name and an easy town to see by foot. It sits at Cuba’s center and is surrounded by expansive sugarcane fields. Sportsmen enjoy the man-made Zaza Reservoir for largemouth bass fishing and the surrounding woods for bird hunting. The Valley of the Sugar Mills between Sancti Spiritus and Trinidad is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Current weather in Sancti Spiritus. |
