Immediate requirement for:

EU Long Term Expert

Programme Management

A long term expert (20 months) is required to manage a large multi-country programme addressing strengthening the capability of the candidate countries in undertaking farm surveys and the compilation of agricultural, fisheries and environmental statistics. The Programme Manager would be based in the EU (ideally UK) with frequent short term missions to CEE countries. Proven experience of project management of large complex projects essential, ideally with a background in agricultural economics and work experience in CEE countries.

EU Short Term Experts

Short term experts are sought for inputs into a large multi-country programme covering Central and Eastern Europe to strengthen and develop the capability for these countries to collect, process and analysis of statistical data describing the agricultural sector. The work, to support Eurostat, requires experts in farm structure surveys and supply (crop) balance sheets.

For this require EU experts in any, or combinations of, the areas listed below. Experience gained in the EU, EC (i.e. DG Agriculture) and / or Central and Eastern European experience would be highly desirable:

Agricultural Statistics (knowledge of acquis communautaire, CAP and associated EC regulations desirable);
Agricultural Economics;
Farm Surveys;
Sample Design;
Computer processing of survey data;
Supply Balance sheets for crop products (data collection, analysis etc.);
Training (in the above fields).

Bosnia Hercegovina

Agricultural Economist

Location: Bosnia Hercegovina.
EU National.
Input: 10.5 months over 2 years.
Required experience: Central and Eastern Europe, preferably in re-construction of agricultural economies.
To support the development of a National Extension Service.
Timing: Likely start October 2000

CIS and CEEC

Biodiversity and Nature Protection Experts required with experience in the CIS or CEEC. In particular experience in institutional strengthening; policy development and implementation; knowledge of EC Habitats Directive and international treaties and protocols regarding nature conservation; sustainable forest management.
