Agriculture Exension and Advisory Services

luxury hotels in Jelenia Gora With over 50 years' experience in delivering extension and advisory services to farmers in the UK, ADAS is uniquely placed to develop such services in other countries. Over the past 10 years ADAS has been engaged in a number of projects designed to develop these services in Central and Eastern Europe and other countries around the world. ADAS consultants in the UK provide services to over 20000 farmer clients as well as commercial companies, co-operatives, utilities and central and local government. Subjects covered include all aspects of agriculture, land-use, the environment, waste management, agro-tourism and rural development.

Since 1997, ADAS has been involved in the commercialisation of its services designed to meet increasing government cost recovery targets. This resulted in the formation of the ADAS Agency in 1992 and its subsequent privatisation in 1997.

In international projects ADAS has worked for the British Know How Fund, the European Union's PHARE and TACIS programmes, the World Bank, FAO and EBRD as well as many private clients. Our links with many other sister organisations in Europe and North America enable the best approaches to be brought to bear on any particular situation. ADAS' understanding of the need to deliver high quality, value-for-money services to assist in the development of agriculture and rural economies and its experience in developing the necessary services to meet this need means that it is uniquely placed to deliver strategically important projects in this field.

Staff have been recruited, computers and other equipment procured and services established. There has been a heavy emphasis on training particularly on crop and animal production farm management and marketing. The Lviv Agricultural Extension Service is seen as a model for all Ukraine.
