Since Leisure Management International (LMI) began managing Miami Arena, the first goal was to develop an entertainment facility that would be profitable to LMI and our client the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority (MSEA), which represents the people of the City of Miami. LMI has attained that goal: net operating income during the last two years has exceeded $1,900,000. Miami Arena is one of the few municipally-owned facilities that returns a profit to its owners.
LMI accomplished this goal by presenting a wide variety of entertainment that appeals to South Florida's complex, multi-cultural population. LMI and MSEA have also invested considerable resources in maintaining Miami Arena as a first-class facility that provides a safe and enjoyable experience for its patrons. As a result of these efforts, Miami Arena has developed a reputation beyond Miami's borders as one of the busiest and most successful arenas in the country.
In the spirit of the City of Miami's original intention that Miami Arena spur redevelopment in the surrounding Overtown/Park West neighborhoods, LMI adopted another goal: that Miami Arena would have a significant impact beyond its mission of providing entertainment, on the lives of the people in the Overtown and Park West communities.
