The majority of the present programs were created in response to specific needs, because there was no alternative in the market, and if they was, the cost of such programs were to expensive.

How specific are these systems?
Some are more general applicable than others, it depends. There are softwares which have competition and others which not.

The majority of these software are being used for real cases. Other systems don't have the same applicability because of their specificity. They are used in business as well as in academic institutions.

Can they be tested?
