On June 9th, 2006, at the annual Lincoln Dinner, Joseph Price officially announced his candidacy for Harford County Sheriff. A lifelong County resident and Republican, Mr. Price is a 27-year veteran with the Maryland State Police and currently holds the rank of Detective Sergeant, Assistant Barrack Commander-Criminal Command. Prior to joining MSP, Joe worked with the Bel Air Police Department in patrol and in the Investigative Division.
An extensive law enforcement and political background makes Mr. Price suitably adept to lead the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. Among the points in his campaign platform are that Joe firmly believes that accountability and enhanced working relationships with other law enforcement agencies both across Harford County and Maryland will help better develop the Sheriff’s office from the inside out.Joe says, “A more accountable Sheriff’s Office, as a whole, will go a long way towards providing the superior service that the citizens of Harford County expect and deserve. This county is rapidly changing and law enforcement must be ready to accept new challenges that arise both head-on and as a team.”
In addition to his law enforcement background, Mr. Price is also extensively involved in the local community. He has been a member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company since 1972. He is presently serving as Vice-President of the Company and holds a seat on its Board of Directors. In 1993 Mr. Price was appointed to serve on the Republican Central Committee and was subsequently elected to the Central Committee in 1994 and re-elected in 1998. From 1995-1996 he held the position of Vice-Chairman and then Chairman from 1996-1999.
He is also the recipient of numerous honors and awards for his work in law enforcement and for community service. Joe, wife Sharon, and son Will are looking forward to the campaign and meeting fellow County residents in the weeks and months ahead. Can Joe count on your support?
