Join the IL Route 66 Road Cruise

If you’d like to explore Route 66 on your way to the festival, the Illinois Route 66 Association will once again host two historical cruises (one from the north near Chicago and one from the south near St. Louis) along Illinois’ route.

City Nights Parade
Whether you’re a cruiser, or just want to see an exciting display of vintage cars, you won’t want to miss this motoring extravaganza! All registered cruisers are invited to roll with the Rt. 66 City Nights Parade. The cruises will begin on the city’s southside and motor along in-town alignments to the festival grounds.

We’ll be Dancin’ in the Streets!
When the parade winds down, the music comes up. Dance the night away to some of the area’s best bands. Keep your energy high all night long by munching on the original Cozy Dog and other Route 66 specialty foods. You’ll also find plenty of your favorite beverages to help keep your whistle wet.

“City Nights – After Hours”
The fun doesn’t stop at 11p.m. On the contrary, many of Springfield’s fine downtown establishments will be open to the wee hours, so you can party ’til the cows come home!

Boogie Down
From the wah tootsie to the hustle...you’ll be able to bustamove all day long. Catch a variety of outstanding acts at the free outdoor stages. Dance, sing and shake your groove thing with the best of them.

Hungry? Thirsty?
Not a problem. You’ll find a myriad of food and drink vendors scattered throughout the festival grounds. From Cozy Dogs...the original corn dog invented on Route 66...to pork chops, ribs and a classic steak sandwich we guarantee you won’t go away hungry. And, don’t forget about all the terrific downtown restaurants with everything from delicious American fare to an eclectic mix of dishes from around the world...all waiting to welcome you!

Marty and Michael...back by popular demand!
Our old friend, Martin Milner, star of TV’s “route 66” and “Adam-12”, is back again this year. Along with our great pal, Michael Wallis, best-selling author and world-renowned “Road Warrior.” They’ll both be on hand in our Authors and Artists Expo to share stories from the Road and pose for a picture or two along with other talented folks from around the country.

Don’t miss the Car Show Awards on Sunday afternoon, when our judges present a variety of specialty awards...along with the “Troy Award – Best of Show,” the crown jewel of this year’s International Route 66 Mother Road Festival.

City Nights Parade II
Cruisers will take to the road again for an encore “Parade of Cars.” The parade starts at the downtown festival grounds and will travel along Route 66 to the northside of Springfield and the historic Illinois State Fairgrounds. Don’t miss this one!
